Overview: The role of the Digital Organizer is a key part behind Voices for Racial Justice’s approach to building power with Black, Indigenous and Folks of Color across Minnesota. This role includes digital content production and dissemination across multiple channels, including social media, mobile messaging, website, and supporter databases. It will support our narrative power-building and online-engagement efforts. The ideal candidate has experience in developing and implementing digital strategy campaigns with an analysis of race and gender. They will also know how to engage authentically and creatively on social-media platforms to cover events and bring people into the work. A successful candidate should be an open-minded, proactive, and solutions oriented individual who is passionate about VRJ’s vision, mission, and approach to building power for Racial Justice. This is a remote position.

Reports to: Co-Executive Director, Communications

Salary Range: $60,000-70,000

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support all stages of daily digital strategy and engagement while keeping at the forefront VRJ’s mission and vision

  • Work with our different teams to co-create and implement digital strategy and promotion across our programs, organizing efforts and campaigns

  • Help develop digital campaigns, support and implement at all stages of the operation, and evaluate how we can better use the tools and tactics the next time around

  • Work with Quilt Podcast Team to support digital strategy and promotion of the Podcast

  • Manage and schedule day-to-day social media content for the campaigns for which you’re responsible.

  • Work regularly with Director of Communications to align program strategy with narrative strategies

  • Run email programs designed to mobilize supporters, often with an emphasis on uplifting the work of our ecosystem organizations. Write the majority of the content with production support

  • Stay up to date with new digital technologies and social-media best practices

  • Update VRJ website & the Quilt website; write, schedule and send newsletters in collaboration with Communications Director

  • Excellent time management skills; can manage long-term projects and quickly pivot based on current events and organizational needs

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, take a concept and run with it, while keeping team members in the loop on progress and feedback or support needed

  • Understands the work of advancing issues and narratives through storytelling, campaigns, and organizing

Experience & Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Digital Organizer or digital strategist

  • Background in organizing

  • Race and gender analysis

  • Experience with MS Office (especially Word and Excel) and Google Drive.

  • Experienced with EveryAction or comparable database

  • Understanding of the data analytics behind emails and social media and how to use that data to increase readership

  • Experience with social media platforms, SMS texting software, HTML coding and CSS
