Mission

Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest in partnership with our community, provides a comfortable and caring home-away-from-home that supports keeping families together and reduces stress during a child’s serious illness. RMHC-UM operates five locations in Minnesota---four in the Twin Cities and one in Duluth serving thousands of families a year, providing 76 overnight rooms, meals, and activities for families with kids facing a medical crisis.


Job Summary

The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for supporting the prospecting, cultivation, stewardship and retention of our Community Engagement portfolio. Additionally, this staff member serves as an integral ‘team player’ for fundraising and stewardship efforts across the Development Department, Volunteer Department, and for Senior Leadership staff. The Coordinator provides excellent customer service and serves as a stewardship liaison between RMHC-UM and donors and potential donors of all kinds and volunteers. The position will interface with our families, staff, donors, Board of Directors and the general public.


Primary Responsibilities

         Development/Communications

  • Provide support for community fundraisers, events, drives and campaigns through which RMHC-UM is a beneficiary.

  • Steward relationships and manage fundraising tasks by working in various platforms, systems and databases 

  • Raiser’s Edge – donor database 

  • Greater Giving – online auction software 

  • Volunteer Hub – volunteer database 

  • Work collaboratively with team to come up with social media content 

  • Respond to inquiries of interested community members/constituents with excellent customer services, offering encouragement and support of any desire to support RMHC-UM’s mission.

  • Steward donor relationships and new fundraising initiatives such that individuals and organizations are inspired to reach and exceed their fundraising goals – serve as a lead contact in assuring outcomes.

  • Complete Development department requests pertaining to donation solicitations.

  • Research philanthropic and fundraising avenues to transform opportunities into actual support for RMHC-UM.

  • Serve as a staff lead for aspects of RMHC-UM signature events.

  • Provide special event support, including logistics and volunteer management.

  • Provide front desk support 


    Admin

  • Update information in the appropriate databases.

  • Provides updates related to third party or RMHC-UM software/fundraising/campaign platforms.

  • Responsible for stewarding donor relationships by working in Raiser’s Edge, VolunteerHUB, Microsoft Outlook programs and other applicable platforms.

  • Support RMHC-UM’s reception area, phone and administration needs.

  • Provide administrative support to the development team, while also supporting the organization’s leadership team.

  • Manage and track RMHC-UM’s Pop Tab Collection program, a core Community Engagement and fundraising platform for RMHC.

  • Provide support for Development, Community Engagement, Marketing/Communications and Volunteer Departments


    Volunteer Relations

  • Support and execute Community Engagement and volunteer related communications.

  • Coordinate and manage volunteers for special events; community fundraising events and campaigns.

  • Coordinate and manage administrative volunteers, group volunteers and interns


    Programs

  • Give tours to various constituents including donors, potential donors, former families, and community partners.

  • Assisting families with daily needs.


Expected Hours of Work

This is a 40 hour a week, full-time position and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday. Night and weekend shifts expected


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Associate degree required, Bachelor degree preferred

  • Experience working/volunteering in a non-profit organization and management of volunteers

  • High tolerance for multi-tasking and interruptions

  • Desire and ability to work well as a team player and provide excellent customer service

  • Ability to constantly operate a computer and other office equipment such as a phone, copy machine, and computer printer

  • Experience with or ability to learn software such as electronic timeclock or spreadsheet software

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a keen attention to detail and ability to ‘hear’ constituents needs

  • Utilize organizational software and databases effectively and efficiently: Products include: Raiser’s Edge, NXT, VolunteerHUB, Greater Giving; as well as common Microsoft Office Products

  • Ability to take initiative and persevere through difficult situations

  • Ability to relate to people of diverse ages and backgrounds

  • Ability to work in a fluid environment with unexpected variations throughout the workday

  • Ability to manage details, organize, prioritize

  • Compassion and the ability to work with families facing a health crisis or loss of a child


Physical Requirements

  • Frequently load and unload carts, stock shelves

  • Perform event preparation and take down tasks, cleaning tasks

  • Occasionally move about to provide tours to families
