Job Overview
The Minnesota Justice Research Center (MNJRC) is a criminal justice research and policy nonprofit founded in 2017. We are seeking an experienced contractor/consultant to perform communications duties including: assisting with writing statements and Op Eds; building and managing social media and the organization website; producing a digital newsletter, and organizing communications around events. The Communications Consultant will also play a role in our organizational narrative development. This is a six month contract expected to be completed and evaluated for extension based on performance and budget at the conclusion of the contract period. The contract requires approximately 10 hours per week. The Communication Consultant reports to the Executive Director and supports all contracts and staff.

About Us

Research: We monitor, research, and analyze what is happening in our justice system. Our work includes community-led research guided by our Research Board; and research and evaluation services for government entities and community organizations.

Education: We educate the community, justice system professionals, and policymakers about our justice system through reporting, convening, and other education and communications efforts.

Policy: We develop and advocate for policy changes based on our research findings. We assist partner organizations with the development of new policy and in their advocacy efforts.

Primary Duties

  • Website management and design

  • Develop and manage bi-monthly digital newsletter

  • Manage social media pages and content generation

  • Write statements, Op Eds and manage media list

  • Work with research, education and policy teams to craft messaging and narrative

  • Lead on promotion of events and original content including reports

Required Experience

Preferred Qualifications

A deep commitment to understanding and transforming how we think about justice in Minnesota. Experience working with and engaging diverse populations in communications efforts.

$45.00 - $65.00 an hour for 10 hours a week.
